If You Are Overweight, You May Not Be Healthy

She lived an active, productive and fulfilling life. A handful is said to be more than enough to ensure the Holistic living with a healthy diet. Everyone is pressed for time these days; it doesn't mean that fitness cannot be a part of your life.

As doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and providers in Pediatrics and Neonatal Medicine we advise parents on the best ways to foster health and well being for their children and their family. As professionals in the medical field we often fall short in taking our own advice, which in the end affects our own health and our lives. We give parents brochures and pamphlets to supplement the conversations we have. It's called anticipatory guidance. As adults have access to information from a myriad of sources including books and magazines, resources online, and our associations. If anything we probably have an abundance of information with a lack of taking the next steps towards using the information to live our best life. This is true for our health, our wealth, and our overall well being.

Walk everyday for at least 20-30 Minutes and perform in a natural living environment is best. (Parks, fields, Gardens, Beach, etc) Please note the walk does not have to be a fast pace, for many people a leisurely stroll is exactly what the doctor ordered. Avoid the hyped up American and/or Western view that exercise should be intense and aimed at 'losing weight' 'burning calories' or 'building muscle' - while these exercise modalities are important they are NOT recommended if you are stressed out.

You can eat the foods you want as long as you control the portions, and as long as you cut down on the frequency for the unhealthy options. If you're healthy all week, reward yourself with a slice or two of your favorite pizza. Just don't have a whole pie, or chow down on your favorite take out every night of the week. That's a mens Healthy living advice eating strategy that can really work, and will keep you on track as you keep on dropping pounds.

Heart disease can begin in childhood. The best is to start prevention by practicing healthy living from young, and the best place to begin is at home.

5) Exercise everyday - start with 30minutes. It can be anything that gets you moving - walking the dog, playing outside with your kids, turning on some music and dancing in your living room. Whatever it takes. I can't stress enough the importance of moving for a healthy mind and body.

A wonderful, older friend of mine, who has since died, gave the best advice I can think of for healthy living: Get on with it! She lived an active, productive and fulfilling life. And is still missed by many.
